A nationwide Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed that 84 percent of adult Filipinos believe they can succeed both in their career and love life while 66 percent said they have experienced it.
On the other hand, 59 percent chose career, while 41 percent chose love life, when asked to choose between the two.
In a statement on Tuesday, the SWS said it asked respondents this question: “In your opinion, is it possible to be successful in your love life and career at the same time?”
About 58 percent answered it was “definitely possible,” while 26 percent said it was “somewhat possible,” resulting in a total of 84 percent who believe it was possible they can succeed.
However, 5 percent said it was “somewhat impossible,” and 3 percent said it was “definitely impossible,” while 8 percent said they were undecided.
“This gives a net possibility score (percentage of definitely and somewhat possible minus the percentage of somewhat and definitely impossible) of +76, classified by SWS as very strong,” the SWS said in a media release.
In addition, the SWS said 66 percent answered in the affirmative when asked: “Have you experienced having a successful love life and career at the same time?”
Another survey question that SWS asked was: “In case you have to choose between your love life and career, which of these two would you choose?”
The majority, or 59 percent chose career, while only 41 percent chose love life.
The survey was conducted from Dec. 8 to 16, 2017 using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults, aged 18 years old and above, nationwide. It has a margin of error of ±3% nationwide, ±4% for Luzon, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao, he said. /atm
