Police arrested an illegal gun maker and seized several firearms worth P50,000 in a raid in barangay Kaputatan, Danao City, northern Cebu.
Mario Hermosilla, 45, admitted that he had been making guns for 10 years.
“Wa man gyod intawn koy laing trabaho kay grade 5 raman ko (I don’t any other job since I only finished grade 5),” said Hermosilla.
Hermosilla will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8294 or possession of unlicensed firearms.
Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-7) raided Hermosilla’s house yesterday based on a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Marilyn Lagura-Yap of Branch 28 in Danao City.
Police said they recovered two Ingrams, three .38 revolvers and a black widow .22 revolver during the raid.
It was the fifth raid conducted by CIDG-7 in Danao this year.
Senior Supt. Jose Pante, chief of CIDG-7, said the series of raids in Danao were made due to continued illegal gun-making in the city.
Pante said these unlicensed firearms are being used by lawless elements in carrying out crime.
