MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes received two new heavy equipment units for road repair and construction on Wednesday afternoon.
The motor gridder G930 and backhoe loader BL71B were ordered from Volvo Motors in Brazil last August and arrived in the Philippines early this month.
“These (vehicles) were ordered from the factory so we are sure that these are brand new), said Arsenio Longakit, representative of Civic Merchandising Inc., who turned over the equipment to Mayor Cortes in a ceremony held in front of City Hall.
Cortes said he preferred to buy brand new units because these consume less fuel and require less maintenance.
The P11.8-million motor gridder has a diesel engine and an airconditioner, and is fuel efficient.
The P7.7-million back hoe loader has the same features.
Longakit said that unlike older vehicles, the new vehicles will use less fuel and will also emit less pollution. /STC Intern Tweeny Malinao
