LUCENA CITY–Police arrested three persons in Quezon province on Friday on charges of illegal possession of firearms.
Arrested was Bernardo Barrentes, 31, after a brief chase in Barangay (village) Poblacion 3 in Sariaya town around 6:20 p.m., said Quezon police director Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento.
Barrentes yielded an unlicensed caliber .38 revolver with six bullets.
Police were acting on information that Barrentes was roaming suspiciously in the area. When the police approached him, he suddenly ran away but was eventually caught.
In Lopez town, authorities conducting “Oplan Bakal” collared Virmar Loreto, 32, after he was found with undocumented caliber .45 pistol with eight bullets inside a restaurant/bar in Barangay Jongo
around 11 p.m.
In Guinayangan town, policemen armed with a search warrant arrested farmer Gerald Gonzales after he was found with an unlicensed one shot 12-gauge shotgun with several bullets inside his house in Barangay
Arbismen. Also found in the search were four caliber .45 bullets.
The suspects were detained in Sariaya, Lopez and Guinayangan police jails while charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were being prepared.#
