San Beda College is now a university after meeting all the standards and qualifying requirements for the grant of the status by the Commission on Higher Education.
The school in Mendiola, Manila, has continued a tradition of leadership and innovation in providing high-quality education while keeping its faith in the Benedictine virtues and values of ora et labora (prayer and work), and fides, scientia, virtus (faith, knowledge, and virtue).
Founded in 1901, San Beda excels academically, particularly in accountancy and law. Among its law graduates is President Duterte.
The university has eight departments: Basic Education, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Law, College of Medicine, Graduate School of Business, Graduate School of Law, and Graduate School of Liturgy.
The College of Arts and Sciences has earned numerous awards instrumental in the Level 3 accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, College, and Universities, one of the requirements for university status. It produced CPA board topnotchers in 2005 and 2014.
