Contractuals in Munti gov’t get SSS coverage

/ 06:20 AM February 09, 2018

More than 2,000 nonregular employees of the Muntinlupa local government will soon be covered by the Social Security System (SSS).

Mayor Jaime Fresnedi signed a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday with SSS National Capital Region-South Division head Cristine Grace Francisco to include around 2,300 job-order and contractual employees under the KaltaSSS-Collect Program.

Under the agreement, personnel who are not under the Government Service Insurance System would be required to register as self-employed members of the SSS. The local government will facilitate the collection of monthly contribution from the employees’ salaries until their resignation or end of contract.

“The city government is committed in providing equal opportunity for all personnel, especially those working in contractual or job-order positions to enjoy the benefits of social security,” Fresnedi said in a statement. —Dexter Cabalza
