The Philippine Army is set to recruit 8,000 additional soldiers to strengthen its manpower in addressing threats like terrorism.

“This year, it is projected that there will be about 8,000 slots open for those who would like be part of the Army as soldiers. This is higher than the regular 3,600 annual quota replacement in the Army,” said Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Louie Villanueva on Thursday.

The new recruits will fill up units like infantry, cavalry and artillery, as well as engineer, communication, logistics, and other administrative units.

The additional quota is due to the activation of 10 additional Army Infantry Battalions.

“The Philippine Army has set up recruitment centers to facilitate the influx of applicant, in three major areas such as Cagayan de Oro City, Cebu City, and Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. Additionally, interested applicant may opt to browse the Philippine Army website or visit the nearest Amry base in their respective localities for inquiries,” Villanueva said. /jpv
