3 suspected drug pushers nabbed in Quezon buy-bust, raids

LUCENA CITY – At least three suspected drug pushers, who are all in the police’s drug watchlist, were arrested in three separate operations in Quezon province, authorities said on Wednesday.

Quezon police Director Sr. Supt. Rhoderick Armamento said operatives collared Ricardo Mojico, 34, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Cotta in Lucena City.

Tagged by the police as notorious peddler of crystal meth or “shabu,” the suspect yielded a sachet of the illegal drug weighing three grams and valued at P5,550, as well as the P500-marked money used in the operation.

On Tuesday, alleged drug pusher Allan Avila, 36, was arrested in a raid in his house in Barangay Sta. Maria in Calauag town by police armed with a search warrant. Recovered from him was a sachet of shabu worth P740, and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Also on Tuesday, anti-illegal drug operatives armed with a search warrant arrested Joenard Garcia or “Jr” in Barangay Lagyo, Gumaca town. Police recovered from the suspect four sachets of shabu with a value of around P1,000 during a search of his house.

Armamento said the drug pushing activities of the suspects were reported to the authorities by concerned citizens in their respective areas.

“No drug pushers can now hide their illegal activities from the prying eyes of their neighbors. We’ve now been receiving floods of valuable tips through text and phone calls from concerned citizens,” Armamento said.                              /kga
