The low pressure area off Eastern Samar is not likely to become a tropical cyclone, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.

According to the state weather bureau’s bulletin, the LPA was last spotted 540 kilometers east of Guiuan, Pagasa said.

The elongated region of low atmospheric pressure will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Caraga and Davao region, the state weather bureau said.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon affecting Luzon and Visayas will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Aurora and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains, Pagasa said. /muf
