Army spokesman sees undetermined casualty in clash with robbery-kidnap group
ZAMBOANGA CITY-The military on Tuesday claimed that a still undetermined number of armed men were either killed or wounded in a clash with soldiers in Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.
Major General Roseller Murillo, commander of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division based in Pulacan, Zamboanga del Sur, said the clash took place in Sitio Monob in Barangay Daniel Maeng around 12 noon and involved troops from the 42nd Infantry Battalion and a robbery and kidnap group headed by a certain Waway.
The Army commander said there was no casualty on the Army’s side but the robbery-kidnap group had an undetermined number of casualty.
Army soldiers recovered a KG9 Luger machine pistol with two magazines, hammocks, (battle dress attire) uniforms, backpacks, hand grenades, binoculars, flashlights, and cellular phones after the clash, Murillo said.
A pursuit operation against the gunmen was continuing, he added.
