Quezon City anti-drug operatives arrested a couple after dealing close to P300,000 worth of “party drugs” to an undercover anti-narcotics agent in Barangay West Triangle on Tuesday morning.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar said suspects Russel Tan, 27, and Jazel Cabresos, 26, were nabbed following the buy-bust operation at Park Villa Apartelle along Quezon Avenue corner Examiner St.
In a press statement, Eleazar said the operation was conducted jointly by agents from the District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency National Capital Region Office (PDEA-NCRO).
Eleazar said Tan and Cabresos were arrested at around 5:30 a.m. after dealing with the undercover agent who acted as the poseur-buyer.
Seized from the couple were 21.50 grams cocaine valued at P215,000, 36 ecstasy capsules worth P55,000.00, eight bottles of liquid ecstasy worth P24,000.00 and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Tan was arrested in March 12, 2015 in a PDEA sting operation along Timog Avenue, but managed to post bail, Elezar revealed.
“Tan had been under surveillance and was confirmed that he continued his illegal drug activities,” the QCPD chief said.
Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165) are now being prepared against Tan and Cabresos. /muf
