A construction worker – tagged as Marikina’s most wanted – was arrested Sunday night after he returned home from almost three years in hiding.
Noel Sineneng, 31, was arrested about 10:50 p.m. by members of the Marikina police intelligence unit led by Chief Insp. Glen Aculana, at their house on Road 2 Ext., Ihawig, Dona Petra in Barangay Tumana.
In October last year, his elder brother John, 35, was also arrested after returning home.
The arrests were based on a warrant issued by Judge Alice Gutierrez of Marikina Regional Trial Court Branch 193 for the murder Rogelio Velasco, the suspects’ brother in law.
Aculana said the Sineneng brothers were accused of stabbing to death Velasco in March 2015.
The official said the two brothers allegedly conspired to kill Velasco who was reportedly raucous and “siga-siga.” The victim had also allegedly fought with their mother.
After the killing, the brothers hid in Cavite and worked as construction workers. The police learned that they had returned to their house through an informant. Police said surveillance against the Sinenengs began in September last year.
“Their sister had been silent about the whereabouts of her two brothers despite the killing. That’s why we found it hard to locate them. (Apparently), blood is still thicker than water,” Aculana said.
Aculana said they were targeting eight more wanted suspects, who again came to focus after Oplan Tokhang was discontinued late last year.
The two suspects are detained at the Marikina police headquarters. /cbb
