BAGUIO CITY — An intensity 4 earthquake rocked this summer capital at 8:42 a.m. on Monday, prompting two major schools here to cancel classes for the day.

The Office of Civil Defense Cordillera (OCD) said it was triggered by a magnitude 3.8 temblor recorded 4 kilometers east of Pugo town in La Union province.

OCD said no damages were recorded. The agency added that no aftershocks are expected.

But the Saint Louis University decided to suspend classes at all levels and ordered its employees to go home as a precaution, according to SLU Student Affairs Dean Andrew Macalma.

The Pines City Colleges also cancelled work and classes, according to the school’s vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Abigail T. Bersamin, in a dispatch through the Philippine Information Agency. /je
