A southbound Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) train was halted in Quezon City on Sunday night after its wheels skidded on the rails.

In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said the train unloaded its 300 passengers at the southbound section of GMA-Kamuning station at 9:22 p.m.

Narvaez said that flat spots on the defective train’s wheels were reported to have caused the train to slip and skid on the rail.

The affected commuters were then loaded in a next train which arrived seven minutes after the incident, she said.

The train was brought back to the depot for preventive maintenance and replacement of wheel set components, Narvaez added. /atm
