Civilians tip police off about drug suspect

LUCENA CITY – Police nabbed a suspected drug peddler in Candelaria town in Quezon province early Sunday, police said.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said Jomari Astrologo, 23, was collared by members of the local drug enforcement unit after he sold crystal meth or “shabu” to an undercover policeman and a civilian “asset” in Barangay (village) Malabanban Sur at about 12:45 a.m.

The suspect, classified as a street-level drug pusher, yielded a plastic sachet containing P1,554 worth of shabu. Police also recovered the P500 marked money used in the buy-bust.

Drug surrenderers from the village who became police partners in the renewed anti-drug campaign “tokhang” revealed to the authorities about the illegal activities of the suspect. The suspect was detained at Candelaria police jail. /cbb
