Ex-village chief shot, killed in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY-A former village chief was shot and killed on Friday (Feb. 2) in Alcala town in Pangasinan province, police said on Saturday (Feb. 3).

Wilson Oria, 63, was driving his motorcycle along the westbound lane of the Hector Mendoza Bridge in Barangay (village) Laoac when one of two men on another motorcycle shot him at 2:55 p.m.

SPO4 Jun Batalla, Alcala police investigator, said Oria, who used to serve as barangay captain of San Vicente village, suffered four bullet wounds in the head, back and arm. He was killed instantly.

Batalla said investigators were still trying to establish the motive of the killing.

Recovered from the crime scene were three cartridges and a slug from a still unknown gun.
