A southbound Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) train carrying around a thousand commuters was halted at Santolan Station on Friday, February 2, after its wheels skidded on the rails.
In an advisory, MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said flat spots on the defective train’s wheels were reported to have caused the train to slip and skid on the rail at 4:40 p.m.
The train was forced to halt and offload approximately 1,000 passengers at the station, Narvaez said.
Narvaez said the train was brought back to the depot for preventive maintenance and replacement of wheel set components.
The disembarked commuters were then loaded in the next train which arrived seven minutes after the incident, she said. /jpv
