TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol-A 67-year-old faith healer was wounded after she was shot in Barangay (Village) Villafuerte, Carmen town, Bohol province on Thursday night, police said Friday.
SPO1 Ruben Mesiona, duty desk officer of the Carmen police, said Luzminda Dalenson was shot by an unknown perpetrator around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday while washing the dishes.
Dalenson’s husband, Samuel, told police he had just finished eating supper when he heard a gunshot prompting him to check the kitchen.
He saw his wife sprawled on the floor and was not moving. The unknown assailant fled the scene.
Luzminda was shot in the cheek and the bullet exited into the back of her ear.
She was brought to Congressman Simeon Toribio Memorial Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, Carmen town.
At Friday dawn, Luzminda was brought to Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital in Tagbilaran for further treatment.
She was now under close observation by doctors. Police believed that the motive of the shooting has something to do with her work.
As a mananambal or faith healer, locals used to come to Luzminda for healing.
Mesiona said Samuel told police that his wife received a death threat telling her to stop putting curses on people.
