Parreño replaces retiring Lim as acting Comelec chair

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Al Parreño will serve as acting chair of the poll body starting on Friday when current acting chair, Christian Robert Lim, retires from office.

Lim announced Parreño’s designation during a meeting on Thursday of the joint congressional oversight committee on the automated election system in the Senate. He said the election commission met last Wednesday and decided to designate Parreno as his replacement.

Lim was unanimously chosen by his fellow election commissioners in October last year following the resignation of former Comelec Chair Andres Bautista.
