Al Parreño named new Comelec acting chair

Commission on Elections (Comelec ) Commissioner Al A. Parreño has been designated the next acting chairman of the poll body.

Incumbent acting Comelec chair Robert Lim, who is set to retire on Friday, February 2, disclosed this during the hearing of the joint congressional oversight committee on the Automated Election System held at the Senate on Thursday.

“Yesterday during the en banc session, we have designated Al Parneño to be the acting chairman after I retire on February 2, your honor,” Lim told the committee.

He said Director Teopisto E. Elnas, Jr. on the other hand, was designated as project management director. /kga
