The Mayon volcano spewed a one-kilometer (km) high ash early Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs) said.
About 6:04 a.m., the restive volcano generated a grayish ash plume with a height of 1.3 kilometers towards the southwest direction.
Phivolcs said that the duration of the eruption lasted for over one minute.
No episodes of lava fountaining and pyroclastic density current were recorded during the eruption but a booming sound was heard at Ligñon Hill, located 11 km southeast of the volcano. /kga
