/ 06:50 AM February 01, 2018

A Manila policeman was killed while a fellow officer and a pedestrian were injured in two hit-and-run incidents that apparently involved the same taxi cab early Tuesday morning.

Chief Insp. Erwin Margarejo, the Manila Police District spokesperson, identified the fatality as PO3 Roy Francis Navarro and the injured as PO3 Jay Ar Bravo and 19-year-old Andre Sapico.

Around 2:30 a.m., Navarro and Bravo were in uniform traveling on separate motorbikes on A. Mendoza Street when the taxi — a white sedan with red markings — sideswiped Navarro’s bike, causing it to also hit Bravo’s.

Navarro sustained serious injuries after being thrown off his bike and died in the hospital about eight hours later, according to case investigator SPO2 Bert Francisco.

Bravos sustained minor bruises.

A few minutes earlier, on Dapitan Street, the same taxi hit Sapico as he was crossing on the pedestrian lane.

The MPD has yet to identify the taxi driver as the security camera footage of the Dapitan Street incident did not clearly show the cab’s markings and license plate.

Navarro and Bravo both reported to MPD’s Station 3 (Sta. Cruz). —Krixia Subingsubing
