Anyare?” Binay said in a statement on Wednesday.

The senator lamented how for many years, commuters have been suffering from “low quality” services of the MRT-3.

Binay pointed out that in July 2016, Tugade promised to increase to 20 trains with 60 cars the MRT-3’s capacity from the then existing 16 trains with 48 cars, as part of his first 100 days in office. The DOTr chief, she added, also promised to raise the MRT-3’s speed to 50 kilometers per hour (kph) from the previous 40 kph.

Binay, however, bewailed that at present, the MRT announced that it has only eight trains running in the system.

This month alone, the senator said, the MRT-3 suffered almost daily breakdowns.

Binay asked.

“Our commuting public cannot wait any longer for a better and commensurate service for the fare they pay,” she added.                  /kga
