Senate panel to summon blogger, Facebook, Google over ‘fake news’

After repeated absence from its hearings, the Senate committee on public information and mass media has decided to issue a subpoena to Cocoy Dayao, the person allegedly behind the blog “Silent No More.”

Aside from Dayao, committee chair Senator Grace Poe agreed to likewise send subpoenas to Facebook and Google upon the motion of Senator Manny Pacquiao during Tuesday’s hearing.

Dayao is said to be behind the blog “Silent No More,” where he branded as seven senators “Malacanang dogs” for not signing a resolution, condemning alleged extrajudicial killings in the country.

“This is quite sad. You can dish it but you can’t take it,” she said of Dayao at the start of the hearing after learning that he was not present. /kga
