DOTr orders review of cap on number of Grab, Uber cars
The cap on the number of Uber, Grab and U-Hop vehicles may go up as the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday ordered a review of the common supply base drawn up by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said that there was a need to review certain provisions in the LTFRB’s Memorandum Circular 2018-003 which sets up a common supply base for transport network vehicle services (TNVS) to ensure it was “anchored [on] the spirit of good governance and compassion.”
The order, set to take effect on Saturday, limits to just 45,000 the number of allowed TNVS in Metro Manila, 500 in Metro Cebu and 200 in Pampanga province. —Jovic Yee
