Former Customs chief Nicanor Faeldon insists that he is “the most interested person” in finding out the truth behind the P6.4 billion shipment of crystal meth, or shabu, from China that slipped through the Bureau of Customs.

“It is wrong to say that I do not want to participate,” Faeldon said in an ambush interview after excusing himself during the Senate hearing headed by Sen Richard Gordon, chairman of the blue ribbon committee. “I always want to participate because I’m the most interested person to find out the truth kasi ako yung biktima dito eh. Ilabas natin yung katotohanan kasi ang talo dito is yung taong-bayan.”

Faeldon denied the allegation that he let the shabu shipment slip into the country.

“Ang truth sa kanila, pinalusot yung shabu. Ang katotohanan ay hindi pinalusot, hinabol ko. Magkaiba po yun eh,” he said.

In August 2017, Faeldon resigned from his post after his name was dragged into the controversy. /atm
