MANILA, Philippines – Police are now coordinating with St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City for security procedures when the warrant of arrest is served against former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who has been staying in the hospital.
Policemen who have been deployed in the area said that an official of the National Capital Region Police Office will be serving the order.
Earlier on Friday, security has been stepped up in the area, said Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson, Southern Police District spokesperson. She said the same was done at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for possible deployment “if the need arises.”
The Pasay City Regional Trial Court issued the warrant against Arroyo after she and two others were charged with electoral sabotage in the 2007 elections.
Arroyo made reservations to leave the country for Singapore Friday, according to officers from the Public Relations Office of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
