28 villages flooded in Camarines Sur
LEGAZPI CITY – Floods struck at least 28 villages in Camarines Sur after intense rain spawned by the tail-end of the cold front pelted Bicol on Saturday, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said Sunday.
In a report, Claudio Yucot, OCD regional director, told the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council that villages in the towns of Garchitorena, Lagonoy, Buhi, and Iriga City were flooded due to swollen spillways and river channels.
The OCD, citing the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), said all national roads and bridges were passable except for the road network at the Daang Mahalika junction of Legazpi-Tabaco-Camarines Sur boundary road and the Legazpi-Punta de Jesus road in Barangays (villages) Pawa and Tinapian in Manito town in Albay province. /cbb
