Mayon volcano posted three lava fountaining episodes on Sunday morning, the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs) said.
Based on the latest data of Phivolcs, the volcano spewed lava and ash plume for the third time at 10:33 a.m. and lasted for 52 minutes.
During the episode, residents of Ligñon Hill reported hearing loud rumbling sound. Ligñon Hill is 11 kilometers southeast of the restless volcano.
Prior to the that, the Mayon volcano also erupted at 5:36 a.m. and 12:45 midnight.
Lawrence Bañes, Phivolcs science research assistant, said the agency was not able to determine the height of the ash plume and lava fountain on the three episodes due to inclement weather in Albay province. /cbb
