3 students hurt as bus rams into parked truck in Quezon
LUCENA CITY—-Three high school students were injured after their bus rammed into a parked cargo truck in Mauban town in Quezon province early Saturday, police said.
Chief Insp. Rodelio Calawit, Mauban police chief, said P & O Transport Corp. bus accidentally slammed into a ten-wheeler truck parked along the side of the road in Barangay (village) Balaybalay around 4:20 a.m.
A report said three of the bus passengers—-Lawrence Ivan Arroyo, 15; Lyle Khayezeine Urgelles, 18; and Kimberly Faith Isagra, 13—-all students from Mother Perpetual Parochial School in Mauban, suffered injuries and were brought to Mauban District Hospital.
In a phone interview, Calawit said the bus was traveling home from a “field trip.” It was raining hard when the accident happened, report said.
According to report from the Mauban disaster risk reduction management office, the truck was parked due to a tire trouble.
The bus driver, Eddie Peñaflorida, surrendered to the police.
