TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol – Leonita Iter Dimarundao wept inconsolably over the body of her son who was shot dead on Friday early morning after attending a wake in Barangay Dao in this city.

Leonita, who will turn 57 on Sunday, said it was the most devastating day of her life when her youngest son, Ibrahim, was killed by unknown assailants.

Police said Ibrahim was walking home to Sitio Lanao in Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City past 3 a.m. when one of the two men on board a motorcycle shot him.

Neighbors, including Ibrahim’s live-in partner Laila Cagado, heard several gunshots.

Upon checking, they saw Ibrahim sprawled on the ground and bloodied as the motorcycle sped off.

Ibrahim sustained five gunshot wounds to his head and body. He died on the way to the Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital.

Cagado, 34, said she had not heard that Ibrahim had enemies since they started living together 16 years ago.

“His family and I want justice. We don’t know who his enemies are,” she added.

Supt. Patricio Degay, chief of Tagbilaran City Police Station, said investigators had yet to identify the shooter and motive behind the killing. “We are conducting a follow-up investigation in the area if we can get CCTV cameras from neighbors. At least, if we can get CCTV footage we can have lead if who were the perpetrators,” said Degay.
