CABANATUAN CITY—A reward of P1.2 million has been offered by two Nueva Ecija government officials for anyone who could identify the gunmen who shot and killed the executive secretary of Gov. Czarina Umali on Jan. 14.
The bounty was put up by Umali, adding to the P200,000 offered by Mayor Nerivi Martinez of Talavera town.
Umali’s aide, Mary Anne Hernandez, 38, was shot and killed at a gas station in Talavera.
Her husband, Carlito, 43, was wounded while her two children, relatives and a maid were unharmed.
The family was headed home after a trip to Baguio City and had stopped for gas a few kilometers from their house.
Senior Supt. Eliseo Tanding, director of the Nueva Ecija police, said Task Group Hernandez was reviewing footage of closed circuit television cameras in the area for possible leads. —ANSELMO ROQUE
