Parts of the country will experience rain due to a low pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Butuan City, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday.

Weather forecaster Chris Perez, however, said that the LPA, last seen 95 kilometers off Butuan City, will not likely intensify into a tropical storm.

According to the state weather agency, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas and the provinces of Quezon, Romblon, Northern Cebu, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte including Siargao Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon, Pagasa said.

For this, Cagayan Valley Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain are expected over Ilocos, rest of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, and the rest of the country, the state weather bureau noted.      /kga
