DAGUPAN CITY — Starting Jan. 25, minimum wage earners in the Ilocos region would get a daily pay increase of as much as P30.
Under a new wage order, employees of large nonagriculture and commercial fishing establishments would get an additional P30 a day while those working in medium nonagriculture establishments would get an additional P20 daily.
Those working in small and micro enterprises would also get P30 more a day while plantation and nonplantation workers would get an increase of P13 daily.
The increases would be enforced on top of the present P243 to P280 minimum wage.
Nathaniel Lacambra, Ilocos director of the Department of Labor and Employment and chair of the Region 1 Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, said the wage adjustments would “help offset the anticipated effects of price increases on the living conditions of minimum wage earners.” —Yolanda Sotelo
