Fake cop with 30 sachets of ‘shabu,’ revolver nabbed in Pasig

A 43-year-old man posing as a police officer was arrested in Pasig City on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Supt Orlando Yebra Jr., chief of the Pasig City Police Station, said identified the suspect as Oden Monderin.

Yebra said Monderin was wearing a police uniform – a green T-shirt with police markings – when he was arrested during a reported illegal drugs operation at around 1:30 p.m. on Tawi Tawi Street in Barangay Sta. Lucia.

Police officers frisked the “suspicious-looking” Monderin and found he was carrying 30 heat-sealed sachets of crystal meth (shabu) and a .38-caliber revolver when frisked.

When questioned, Monderin introduced himself as police officer. But he failed to show an authentic identification card.

Yebra said Monderin, a former caretaker at an eatery and now jobless, admitted he was not an officer but was just “pretending.”

Monderin is included in the city’s drug watch list. But he has no known record before his arrest.

He is detained at the Pasig City Police Station.

He faces charges for illegal possession of firearms and usurpation of authority as well as violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs law. /atm
