Cortes: I’ll take over Mabanto’s post
MANDAUE City Mayor Jonas Cortes yesterday ordered Assistant Prosecutor Bienvenido Mabanto to relinquish his post as vice chairman of the city’s traffic management board.
Cortes told reporters that he will take over pending investigation.
“I do not want to remove him because of reported regular instances of abuse. It needs due process,” he said, adding that a firm person is needed to enforce the law.
Cortes said he will oversee the rerouting in preparation for the opening of more big establishments in the city.
“With every change there is resistance. I’m doing this in the best interests of the people,” he added.
Cortes said other tricycle drivers went to City Hall to point out that they did not participate in the recent rally for Mabanto’s ouster. REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
