Police Director Noli Taliño is set to return to his former unit, the Special Action Force (SAF), and take the helm of the elite force and tactical support group of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Taliño, who was SAF deputy director when the Mamasapano clash happened in 2015 – where 44 SAF members were killed, will be officially named as SAF commander on Tuesday with PNP Deputy Director Gen. Ramon Apolinario gracing the ceremony as guest of honor and speaker.
Prior his new position, Taliño served as the Director for Human Resource and Doctrine Development at Camp Crame. He was promoted to two-star general last week.
In a statement, the PNP also announced that they will commemorate the third anniversary of the Mamasapano incident on Thursday at Camp Bagong Diwa. /kga
