New PCSO chair: Let’s show them we’re a different kind of breed

On his first day as the new chair of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Anselmo Pinili urged PCSO employees to prove their detractors wrong and show that they “are a different kind of breed.”

“Concerning the exposés, we’ll just have an open mind. Let’s prove them wrong,” Pinili, a retired chief superintendent, said in his speech during the change of command ceremony on Monday morning.

Pinili replaced former Chair Jose Jorge Corpuz, a member of Philippine Military Academy “Sandigan” Class 1982, who resigned two weeks ago due to health reasons.

Corpuz left the agency in the middle of a controversy sparked by former jueteng whistleblower and PCSO Director Sandra Cam’s exposé on the “lavish” Christmas party and the alleged irregularities at the agency.

Corpuz, General Manager Alexander Balutan and all the assistant managers and directors—except Cam—attended the flag-raising ceremony, said PCSO deputy spokesperson Florante Solmerin.

Cam stayed at her office during the turnover rites but went to Pinili’s office later to congratulate him.
