To let residents and establishments in Makati City pay their taxes without penalties, the local government has extended until the end of the month the deadline for payment of business and realty taxes.

Mayor Abby Binay said on Saturday that the deadline, originally on Jan. 20, was extended to accommodate those who really intend to pay promptly.

She warned, however, that this time around, residents and businesses should not wait for the deadline to lapse.
