Cash for Work Program beneficiaries fully paid-DSWD

MANILA, Philippines — The beneficiaries of the Department of Social Work and Development’s (DSWD) Cash for Work Program have been fully paid, a Radyo Inquirer 990AM report said.

The Cash for Work Program aims to help 1,891 people caught in hostilities between the government and lawless elements in Al-Barka, Basilan.

Under the program, each beneficiary received P222 per day of work. They would work in various community projects such as cleaning the shorelines, food production, and mangrove and tree planting.

DSWD secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman gave a P2 million check to the local government for the implementation of the program, the report said.

Soliman was quoted as saying that the program was only temporary for those affected by the conflict.

All evacuation centers have been closed in Zamboanga Sibugay as people who were affected by the hostilities went back to their houses.

DSWD will still continue providing aid to those affected by hostilities, the report said.
