Jan. 21
Sinulog Festival Grand Parade
It is the culminating event of the 10-day festival in Cebu City, Cebu province, that pays homage to Sto. Niño. The word “sinulog” means “like the flowing water” in Cebuano, which describes the movement of Sinulog dance. At least a million people visit Cebu to watch the event, where over a hundred contingents of dancers and puppeteers parade around the major streets of the city.

Dinagsa Festival
Article continues after this advertisementA festival in honor of Sto. Niño in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental province. A fluvial parade carrying the image of Sto. Niño is held. “Dinagsa” suggests the surge of blessings such as a huge catch of fish and other seafood, which are famous products of the city.

Dinagyang Festival
A dance festival in Iloilo City in Iloilo province in honor of Sto. Niño. The festival’s main event is the Ati Tribes Competition, where dancers smeared in soot and carrying spears and shields perform to the music played with indigenous instruments. This year’s theme is “Dinagyang@50: Timeless Tradition, Culture and Devotion.”
