DAGUPAN CITY—A security guard and a farm worker were killed on Friday night (January 19) in two separate vehicular accidents in Pangasinan province, police said on Saturday (January 20).
Ariel Marcella, 26, died on the spot after his motorcycle collided head on with a cargo truck at 10:30 p.m. along the Dagupan-San Fabian diversion road here.
Police said Marcella was on his way home to San Fabian town after ending his shift as a security guard when his motorcycle encroached on the opposite lane of the road and hit the truck.
Police are now preparing a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damaged to property against the truck driver, Jose German, 64.
In Bayambang town, farm worker Marcelino Galsim, 63, did not reach the hospital alive after he was run over by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) at 7:50 p.m. in Barangay (village) Bacnono.
Police said Galsim was seated on a wooden bench when a Ford Everest parked about 10 meters away from him suddenly sped towards his direction.
The SUV was parked with its engine still running, when driver, Joel Ferrer, 35, got off to allow his companion, Jeffrey Junio, 23, to take the driver’s seat. Junio drove off hitting Galsim.
Junio was also taken to a hospital for treatment for hurting his back when he attempted to lift the SUV to rescue Galsim, who was pinned under the vehicle. Gabriel Cardinoza INQ
