Probe on P15.7B frigate project, an ‘opportunity’ we’ve been waiting for – DND
The Department of National Defense (DND) welcomed on Friday the Senate’s likely investigation on the controversial P15.7 billion frigate acquisition project of the Philippine Navy.
“We have long been waiting for the opportunity to shed light on this issue so that the truth will finally be known,” Defense spokesperson Dir. Arsenio Andolong said in a statement.
Senators from the minority bloc have moved to probe the deal, allegedly involving Malacañang.
Minority leader Franklin Drilon, and Senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, Risa Hontiveros, Antonio Trillanes IV, and Leila De Lima filed on Tuesday Resolution No. 584, directing the Senate committee on national defense and security and Congressional oversight committee on the AFP Modernization Act to examine the status of the AFP modernization program, including the warships deal. /kga
