Latest data from the Department of Health showed 65 recorded deaths due to leptospirosis in Metro Manila from Jan. 1 to Dec. 2, 2017, higher than the 46 cases recorded during the same period in 2016. The region recorded the highest number of deaths in the country due to leptospirosis, followed by Ilocos region with 54 deaths. —Marielle Medina
