A policeman who was shot and wounded last Saturday may have his feet amputated after he was attacked by five unidentified men in barangay Lagtang, Naga City, southern Cebu.
Aside from the possibility of losing both feet, PO2 Antonio Icalina is also facing an administrative investigation after he was accused of being a protector of drug pushers in Lagtang.
Insp. Julius Ompad, chief of the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Branch (PIDMB) of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, said an investigation will be made after an informant, a certain Tatay, revealed that Icalina was in Lagtang at the time to collect money from drug pushers.
Tatay was arrested after he was caught in a pot session in sitio Mohon last Tuesday.
Police said the arrested man revealed that he knew some drug pushers who gave protection money to Icalina.
Icalina, a native of Mandaue City, was previously assigned in Naga City before he was transferred to Tudela town on Camotes Island.
Ompad said he visited Icalina at the South Genereal Hospital and told him of the accusations. With this, Ompad will be reassigned to the Provincial Security Group.
Policemen found Icalina slumped on the ground with gunshot wounds in the legs last week.
He had crawled a distance before he was found and said five unidentified men shot him.
