50-year-old man arrested in Negros Oriental for P125K shabu

Authorities have collared a 50-year-old man in Negros Oriental for packing P125,000 worth of methamphetamine, colloquially known as shabu, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino on Wednesday said Howard Cabano, 50, was arrested after the agency’s Region 7 operatives searched the home of the “drug personality” on January 12.

Aquino said Cabano was in possession of 29 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu, weighing about 25 grams, worth P125,000, as well as assorted drug paraphernalia.

The operation was conducted by the PDEA Regional Office 7, together with the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office’s intelligence officers and special operations group, after a local court issued a search warrant.

Cabano would be charged for possession of dangerous drugs as well as possession of drug paraphernalia under Republic Act 9165, or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.”
