Acting on a landlady’s complaint about a tenant who had not paid his rent for two months, Taguig City policemen went to a unit at a posh condominium building in Bonifacio Global City and found a stash of illegal drugs.
Seized from the unit rented by Benjamin de Vera at Forbeswood Heights on Monday were dried marijuana leaves, a sachet of white powder believed to be cocaine, 100 Valium tablets, 29 Viagra pills and six weighing scales.
According to the report of the Police Community Precinct (PCP) 7 whose members went to the condominium unit, they also found the official receipt for De Vera’s driver’s license.
The unit owner, Cherryl Rentteron, told the police that she had not seen De Vera for more than two months, according to Insp. Romel Bulan, who headed the PCP 7 team.
“We went there to confront the tenant because the water and electricity services had been cut off to the unit, which is why the owner asked us for help,” Bulan said.
The unit was not locked and was a “complete mess” when Rentteron last checked it, he said.
The Taguig police have set out to locate De Vera and are also checking the names of his visitors on the condo’s security logbook. —Matthew Reysio-Cruz
