Seminar on best practices in septage management

THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District and four other water districts in the country were recipients of the twinning seminar dubbed Philippine Multiple-Recipient water operator partnership: Replicating best practices in septage management.

The seminar, hosted by MCWD, was spearheaded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Waterlinks and Philippine Association of Water Districts.

The other water districts were Baliwag Water District, Cabanatuan City Water District, Laguna Water District and Calamba Water District.

Speakers were representatives from USAID Eco-Asia, Waterlinks, Indah Water Konsortium of Malaysia and Maynilad.

These recipients are also expected to impart their knowledge to other water districts in the country.

MCWD is planning to put up three septage treatment plants in Cebu City, Cordova and Liloan.

The project is in compliance with the Clean Water Act of 2004 which requires all local government units and water districts to implement septage management programs.
