The House justice committee has summoned the two psychiatrists who examined Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and also sought access to her psychiatric records.

During the Monday hearing on the impeachment against Sereno, the House panel decided to subpoena the psychiatrists who conducted the exam—Doctors Dulce Liza Sahagun Reyes and Genuina Ranoy—in the next hearing.

Some lawmakers moved that the committee also subpoena the psychiatric records of other Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) nominees but majority of the members voted against it.

Only Siquijor Rep. Rav Rocamora and Quezon City Rep. Kit Belmonte voted that the House also subpoena the records of other nominees.

In the impeachment complaint filed by lawyer Larry Gadon, he alleged, citing news reports, that Sereno failed the psychological exam administered by the JBC, receiving a grade a grade of “four” with “five” being the lowest, making her unfit for the job.

“Her psychiatric report described her as “dramatic and emotional.True enough, this has been manifested throughout her five (5) years in office,” Gadon wrote. /je
