Niños, Landmasters to test mettle of Derby Ace Llamados
CEBU’S TWO best basketball squads, the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu Niños and the Mandaue-Cebu Landmasters/RDAK, will continue to sharpen their skills in preparation for the upcoming Mandaue leg of the Liga Pilipinas as they take on PBA MVP James Yap and the rest of the visiting BMEG Derby Ace Llamados on June 1 and 2 at separate venues.
The Niños will be facing the Llamados on June 1 at the Cebu Coliseum while the Landmasters take their shot at the visiting PBA squad the following day at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex. Game times for both games have been set at 6 p.m.
Cebu and Mandaue still have their eyes set on the Air21 Express, who are coming here this weekend to battle with them.
The Niños face off against the rejuvenated Express, starring Danny Seigle, Dorian Pena, Paul Artadi, Jay-R Reyes and Wynne Arboleda among others, tomorrow while Mandaue has its date the following day.
Interestingly, the Express have three Cebuanos on their roster, namely the “Cebuano Hotshot” Dondon Hontiveros, former University of the Visayas (UV) ace Reed Juntilla and the newly-signed Patrick Cabahug, also formerly of the Baby Lancers. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
